Destination Canada is responsible for hosting the Website on behalf of GAC and for providing related services to the federal departments and agencies that publish their content to the Website.

Personal information may be collected in compliance with the Privacy Act. This means you will be notified when your personal information may be required, the purpose for which it is collected, and how to exercise your right of access to that information.

The Government of Canada is committed to safeguarding your personal information. Collected information will not be shared with any third parties except as required by law or as outlined in these Terms and Conditions. Any personal information collected will strictly comply with the Privacy Act, and additional uses or disclosures beyond these stated purposes will only occur with your explicit consent.

Personal information is information about you that is recorded in any form and that can be used to identify you. Personal information includes:

To consult you about topics that might interest you or to enable you to participate in outreach activities, we may need to collect biographical information or your opinions and views about different topics.

We might use your personal information to:

  • consult you about topics that might interest you
  • enable you to participate in outreach activities
  • allow for the sharing of opinions, knowledge, expertise and best practices
  • evaluate programs

In addition, certain types of information are collected by Destination Canada during visits to the Website for the purposes of web analytics and security monitoring. These include the date and time of Website visits, the type of browser, operating system, and device used, terms entered in the search engine, the pages visited, and documents downloaded. IP addresses are collected incidentally and are not used to identify or associate with you. Destination Canada will not attempt to link these IP addresses with the identity of visitors to the Website unless an attempt to damage the Website is detected or otherwise in accordance with Canadian law or the law of the provinces. Personal information, such as names, addresses, and account information will not be collected by Destination Canada. We will not use any personal information that we collect from you through the Website to make decisions in processes that you are directly involved in, for example, an employment insurance application, a grant application or a citizenship application.

While Destination Canada administers the Website and provides related services to federal departments and agencies, all content published by the Government of Canada on this Website remains the exclusive property of the Government of Canada. The Government of Canada reserves the right to update or modify its content on the Website as necessary, to ensure the information remains accurate and current.

You can ask to access personal information that you have given us or that may have been created when you have interacted with us through the Website.
